Stronger at 70 than 50: What we’ve learned coaching over 60s in Adelaide

Neven Antic • March 6, 2026

One of our favourite things at D8 is hearing someone in their 60s or 70s say:

“I’m stronger now than I was in my 50s.”

If that sounds impossible, here’s what we’ve learned from coaching over 60s through our ForeverStrength

over 60s strength training in Adelaide.

Lesson 1: Small, consistent steps beat heroic efforts

Squatting to depth at d8 training

Most ForeverStrength members train:

  • 2 times per week
  • 45–60 minute sessions
  • Same or similar times each week

They don’t smash themselves. They just show up.

Over months, those small, repeatable efforts add up to big changes in:

  • Confidence
  • Strength
  • Daily function

Lesson 2: Strength gains are still real

Personal Training at d8

We’ve seen over 60s and over 70s:

  • Add meaningful load to simple lifts
  • Go from struggling to stand from a chair to doing it easily
  • Feel steadier on stairs and uneven ground

We’re not chasing trophies. We’re building useful strength for real life in seniors strength classes Adelaide locals feel safe in.

Lesson 3: Pain often improves when strength does

Many over 60s start with:

  • Sore knees
  • Achy backs
  • General stiffness

With the right exercises and progressions, we often see:

  • Less joint complaining in daily tasks
  • Easier walking and standing
  • Better posture and confidence

Lesson 4: Community matters

Training alongside others your age who:

  • Understand your stage of life
  • Share your goals
  • Celebrate your wins

…makes it much easier to keep showing up.

Lesson 5: Clear milestones keep you motivated

We don’t just say “you’re doing well.”

We:

  • Test simple strength and balance markers
  • Retest regularly
  • Show you the numbers improving

How ForeverStrength is structured

Our 8 Week ForeverStrength intake includes:

  • An initial assessment
  • 2 coached sessions per week
  • Small groups, capped for safety and coaching quality

Most members then continue on a simple membership to maintain and progress.

Most adults we coach at D8 are not sitting around wondering what to do with all their free time. They’re: Working full time Juggling kids’ sport and homework Trying to have some kind of life on weekends So “train 6 days a week and meal prep for 3 hours” is never going to happen. Here’s how we help Adelaide parents actually fit adult strength training in Adelaide into 2–3 hours a week.

Here’s why more conditioning isn’t fixing their speed, and what actually moves the needle in our athlete strength and conditioning Adelaide parents use for results.
